DNA Max Bluetooth Speaker: Design

Bluetooth speakers have different shapes and sizes nowadays. The Monster DNA Max Bluetooth speaker comes with a sleek and classic design. This speaker has a “flattened” cylindrical shape. DNA Max speaker comes with 8 ¾” in height, 4 1/2” in width, and 3” in depth. Approximately 1/2 inch of the top and bottom of the speaker, along with a 5/8 inch strip up the right side, are coated in a soft rubberlike material.

The black fabric finish covered the rest of the speaker. The Monster logo is about 1 ½” up from the bottom on the front side. The logo is also in the same black rubber-like material that can be seen on the top and bottom of the speaker. We are reviewing the black color speaker but this speaker also comes in white/grey model.

Most of the speakers can be found on the top of the speaker. Two large volume buttons signed by _ and + for increasing and decreasing the sound. There is a pair of stacked smaller buttons between these – and + buttons. The power button is specified by the circle and the Monster Share Party Mode is specified by the Monster icon.

A thin LED ring can be seen implanted around the outer edge of the speaker on the top. The bottom of the speaker has a plain surface. However, it has a groove aligned with the wireless charging base. The Monster wordmark can be seen on the right side of the speaker. For attaching the wrist strap there is a cutout with a thin red bar inside it at the top.

There is a Bluetooth pairing button and a USB Type-C charging port under the Monster logo. The Monster DNA Max Bluetooth speaker has 2.4 pounds weight. This isn’t exactly heavy, but dangling from the provided wrist strap wasn’t fun, and is surprising that the thin string around the built-in bar would break.

When the speaker is powered up the light remains turned on and provides the visual display of volume level. The light turns blue when the speaker is in Bluetooth pairing mode, and when it turns off the light flashes red. When there is no music played for 15 minutes the speaker will be turned off automatically.  It gently pulses while charging the speaker. This speaker is fully waterproof and dustproof IP67, and when you threw it in the pool or hot water it started floating around until you get back to it.

Overall, the Monster DNA Max Bluetooth speaker comes with a sleek design than some other speaker brands in the market. A patio table outside or a shelf inside, its appearance and toughness make it equally at home. The DNA Max, on the other hand, lays flat like a paddleboard. Due to this, one side is constantly exposed to the atmosphere. Due to the speakers’ dual drivers, you can hear your music clearly at all times.

DNA Max Bluetooth Speaker: Sound Quality

The Monster DNA Max Bluetooth speaker comes with decent sound quality. This speaker can be considered a good option because of its dual-sided drivers. You will get the same sound while standing in front and behind the speaker because of its dual-sided drivers. It is the best option to place the speaker in the middle of the room or any place for decent sound.

The “Omnidirectional sound” is mono which is very impressive. You will get a clear sound through the mids and highs. There is a great amount of bass. You will get pleasant sounds for the most part while listening to (rock, hip-hop, classical, etc.) When you reach the maximum volume some tracks sound a bit muddy. This speaker has a very impressive Bluetooth range. This speaker has 35 feet Bluetooth range which is good for indoor use.

DNA Max Bluetooth Speaker: Features

The DNA Max speaker offers wireless charging charged using Qi wireless chargers. The DNA Max has a wireless charger, a six-foot braided USB-C cable, and a 10-Watt power supply. If you want to buy these accessories separately then these have a $25 to $30 price range.

The DNA Max speaker offers the feature of taking calls while pairing to it. You can attend the call by pressing the power button. The audio of the call comes from the speaker. You can also answer the call using a single ECM (electret condenser microphone) without having your phone.

The mic quality is not so good you have to stand near the speaker to get a good-quality call experience. Additionally, it’s pretty bad when you’re outside since there isn’t much noise-canceling.

Battery Life

When we talk about the battery life Monster DNA Max Bluetooth speaker offers 14hrs of playtime on a single charge. This speaker has a 4400mAh battery. The battery can last up to a full day. It has an 18W wireless charging pad. The battery will be fully charged in 4 hours.

Monster declares that the battery can last up to 20 hours if you listen to music at 50% volume. But when you use the speaker at 70% volume the battery will drain fast and can last up to 15 hours which is not too bad. The speaker is able to charge external devices using a USB-C cable.

Easy to Use

You can adjust the volume using the buttons on the speaker or using the volume buttons on your phone. Both the volume buttons from the speaker or mobile can adjust the volume level. You can play/pause or answer/end a call using the power button.

If you want to skip to the next track or go back to the previous track you can press and hold the volume buttons. Finally, you can connect to another Monster speaker that supports the Monster Share Party Mode using the Monster Share button for getting a bigger sound.

Pricing and Value

The Monster DNA Max Bluetooth Speaker comes with a price of $179.99. For this speaker, the price is a little more. Of course, there are affordable Monster DNA One Wireless Speaker in the market with a price of $149.99. This speaker has decent sound, good battery life, and wireless charging.

Its dual-sided drivers and excellent volume is a good option for entertaining a medium-sized gathering both indoors and outdoors. You can expand the speakers using other Monster speakers.
